I’ve never won anything in my life. Sports competitions? My team always came last. Raffles? It’s like someone must have thrown away the little slips of paper containing my name. Not even a measly academic award. Nothing. I was, therefore, more surprised than anybody when, after entering a random kitchen renovation competition I saw in the newspaper, I actually won! I was going about my day when I got a call from one of the most established kitchen design companies Melbourne has. Well, it was actually their producer, since the company is attached to a television show whose main focus is renovating houses. I was so excited and surprised that I almost dropped my computer! A new kitchen, designed by Melbourne’s leading interior designers, and I wouldn’t have to pay a cent? It sounded way too good to be true. But it ended up being very real.
A few days later, a team of expert designers, tradesmen and television people came to visit my house. They told me to wear something nice, since I would be filmed. That day, we were running through the schedule and discussing our initial plans for the project. They asked me to give them any new kitchen installation ideas I may have, and I was more than happy to oblige. I’ve wanted my kitchen renovated for longer than I can remember. My cupboards are all outdated, and my sink is scratched, and my benchtops are cracked. Hopefully, now I will be able to get the kitchen I have always wanted. More specifically, I want something that fits all the appliances and little knick-knacks I own. I have always loved cooking, but it’s difficult to do when you don’t have the space to move around properly and can only prepare certain things at certain times due to limited space on the benchtops. Now, I might even be able to host dinner parties for all my friends!
