Fun Spa Time

It’s officially spa day. I’ve been looking forward to this for months; my whole friendship group packing ourselves into two cars and travelling to a luxurious spa centre just outside of Melbourne. The past year has been supremely stressful, and I’m excited to treat myself alongside all of my friends. We’re planning to start our day at the hot springs and then pamper ourselves with facials, manicures and pedicures. Since my job requires me to be on my feet, I think I deserve a bit of a rest. I’ve already visited a podiatrist to pick up some of the best orthotics Melbourne has to offer. Now, I’m going to get my nails painted and exhale away all the stress of the year in the hot steam.

I have seen pictures of the spa online, and it looks incredible. The hot springs section is like something out of Iceland, surrounded by smooth rocks and deep green climbing vines. There are rooms for sleeping, saunas, and offices for the workers. There are also multiple dedicated gym and fitness class spaces with thousands of dollars worth of state-of-the-art equipment. Most of my friendship group are staying at the spa for a couple of days, which means we’ll get to enjoy all the facilities properly.

I’m also excited to try something called paraffin foot therapy. Apparently, it’s this type of foot treatment where your foot is submerged into a tub filled with heated wax. It’s completely safe, as the wax isn’t hot enough to actually hurt you and is mainly therapeutic. I think this will really help me relax over the coming week. Paraffin wax foot therapy is generally only offered by specialised podiatrists with years of training, however this particular spa has a special certificate that allows them to practice it. My friends sound like they’re a little bit scared, but I’m going to try and convince them to do it with me!
