A Jewellery Business

I’m not a marketing expert at all, but I started a small jewellery business recently and I need to learn how to market it properly. It’s a lot harder than you think. A lot of people think you can just post a picture on the internet and call it a day, and sure, you can do that and it might even make a bit of an impact, but it won’t change the success of your business in a fundamental way.

There are so many aspects to marketing that most people don’t even think about. For example, I’m currently looking through the list of the many video production companies located near Melbourne and trying to find one that could gel well with my business and its ethos. These guys are the real pros in their field. Seriously elite, kind of thing. They know how to film my jewellery properly and how to make it shine on camera. I mean, it’s shiny in real life, but they really know how to make it sparkle for an audience. They are experts at what they do, but even then, that’s only one small aspect of marketing.

What I do with the video after they create it is completely up to me. I suppose that’s one of the crazy things about working at a marketing video production company. You could be hired by someone and spend weeks creating an awesome video for them, only for them to totally fumble its release and ruin any chance the video had for success. It kind of sucks. That’s why I like owning my own small business and getting to be in charge of myself and make all the final decisions. Sometimes it can be a lot of pressure, and obviously, it’s a lot more work than a regular day job, but I ultimately find it very rewarding. I can’t wait to watch them finish filming my video and see how it turns out!
