The Christmas Mechanic

It’s that time of year again: Christmas. I’ve got so many things to do. Because I’ve been so social this year, I have met dozens of new people whom I now consider to be my friend. However, because we only met recently, there’s always that awkward question of, “Should I buy them Christmas gifts?” I don’t want to buy one if they don’t think we’re at that level of friendship yet, but it’s ultimately hard to gauge.

Apart from spending money on gifts, I also have to take my car in for its logbook car service. It’s been about half a year since my last scheduled service, so I’m definitely due for one. Although I feel like my car is working fine, the mechanic always seems to find something that he can make a little bit better. I really trust his guidance, as he’s super transparent about the whole process. The good thing about getting your car serviced so regularly is that it increases its longevity and resale value. I’m confident that when it comes time to sell my car and buy a new one, I’ll get a great price as it will be in almost perfect condition. But that’s a task for a little while away.

On today’s to-do-list, I’ve got to go to the shops, then I’ve got to go to my mechanic servicing the Queanbeyan area, and then I have to visit my aunt and uncle who live a few suburbs away from me. With everything crazy that’s been happening this year, I haven’t had the chance to see them for a while, so this will be our little Christmas party. I can’t wait! After I take my car for its service, I’m planning to come home and make a nice roast and fruit pudding to bring to their house. They’re both brilliant cooks, but I feel like it would be rude to go and see them completely empty-handed.
