The Steel Circle

All my life I have wanted a steel beam fashioned in the shape of a perfect circle. You can ask me why, but I will not tell you – not because it’s a secret, but because I simply have no idea why.

I have longed for a circular steel beam for more than a decade now. I vividly remember being in primary school and looking at the metal on the playground and thinking how awesome it would be to display some metal of my own in my bedroom. I even got so far as looking up a steel suppliers price list. Melbourne had a number of steel suppliers at the time, and the list has only grown. However, I was obviously in school and did not have a job or any money of my own, so I resolved to wait until I was old enough to buy the services of a fabricator. Since then, I have been biding my time.

Last week, I finally saved up enough money to make my dream a reality. I’ve been calling all my local steelwork businesses to see who can accomplish what I want at the best possible price. As it turns out, it’s a fairly simple concept, however what concerns people is that I am asking for a perfect circle. Mathematically perfect. That’s what makes it a little bit difficult.

There is one business that claims to be the best steel fabricator Melbourne has to offer, and they say that they can do it for me. I booked an appointment to visit their warehouse office complex tomorrow to talk to them in person. I want to get a feel for who I’m working with before I commit to working with them. And seeing their work in person wouldn’t be too bad, either. I’ve wanted this circular steel beam my whole life, so it’s important it is completed by someone who knows exactly what they’re talking about and understands my requirements.
